Most people may find this surprising, but I did not begin to wear makeup until I was around 20 to 21 years old. I know surprising right! I guess I can contribute my lack of wanting to wear makeup to the fact that my mom nor any of my older sisters wore makeup. We pretty much had naturally youthful skin so makeup was not a necessity to our everyday lives. It wasn’t until I begin to watch YouTube in the late 2008ish days that I begin desiring to want to change my look. After watching some of my favorite Youtubers at the time Jackie Aina, Makeup Doll, Peakmill, Missylynn and Tiarra Monet just to name a few, that I begin attempting to recreate some of their looks. I will say at first my go products consisted of black eyeliner, mascara and very bright neon pink lipstick. Drug store of course. I’m oh so happy that only I have the dreaded photo proof of those tragic attempts. Now that I’m older, and if I say so myself, more well versed in the field of beauty I’m able to play around and recreate some amazing looks. Today I wanted to share with you my most favorite look which I like to call a “Natural Beat”!
Now don’t get it confused just because it is a natural beat does not mean that it’ll only take a few products to complete. Oh no to me a natural beat is all about minimizing the amount of each product you use to create a more skin like appearance. Here’s some of my go to products I use to create a natural beat face:
- Equate Dry Skin Cream (Ponds comparison works the same at a more affordable price)
- Black Radiance True Complexion Shine Control Primer
- TOOFACED Hangover RX Face Primer
- ELF Brow Pencil in Dark Brown
- Anastasia Brow Wiz in the shade Dark Brown
- Benefit Ka-brow in shade 05
- Maybelline 24H Foundation in shade Toffee/Caramel
- Sephora Bright Future concealer in 14 Toffee
- Black Opal Total Coverage concealer in Heavenly Honey 05
- Wet n Wild Crème Eyeliner in CA130 Carbon My Reach
- Cura Faux Lashes in Poppy
- Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in 100 Molten Gold
- Airspun Loose Face Powder
- Colourpop Lip Liner in BFF 3
- Milani Amore Matte Lip Crème in the shade 38 Stunning
- Pearleassence Rose Water Hydrating Face Mist
- MAC Prep+Prime Fix+ Setting Spray
As you can see I use a mixture high end and drugstore beauty items to create my looks. Beauty to me is not about breaking the bank but about finding products that work for me, my skin and the look I’m trying to create. I hope this was helpful to you in some way. Be sure to let me know the products you use for your go to “Natural BEAT”!
