Yesterday we celebrated the born day of my youngest son Austin. This year things were a little different…as we all know gone are the days of Arcades, Trampolione Parks, and, Family Vacations. In these days of social distancing most of our young one’s are opting for birthday parade’s, where classmates, friends, & family drive by the home of the birthday boy/girl with fully decorated vehicles. Handing presents as they drive by, some families are even celebrating little ones birthdays via Zoom.
While those ideas are great for the families that choose them I wanted something different. For the past few months I’ve been wrecking my brain thinking of ideas to not only celebrate my son’s birthday, but I wanted to make it fun, and memorable.
We’ve already canceled a planned vacation due to COVID-19 and my boys have been literally “stuck in the house, and in the house bored” for 5 months now. This summer I enrolled the boys in private swimming lessons where they both thrived. Unlike myself who has a strong dislike for water. The boys took to the water like fish! Lessons are now officially over and Austin has been begging to get back into the pool. So, I figured what better way to spend his birthday, but in the water. I stayed up until 1 a.m. Sunday morning decorating his room and the dining room. Thankfully Austin was throughly surprised when he woke up to find decorations hanging from his ceiling, and balloons galore!
Amazon…the new mall helped me pull this off. Much similar to other boys in his age group he enjoys Fortnite. Although I don’t let him play it often, he still love the game. So I went with a Fortnite theme.
I invited my niece, and nephews over to enjoy the day with him. I know what you’re thinking, but before you begin. We’ve all been social distancing, and staying home during these COVID-19 times. What better way for a cousin reunion then to celebrate a birthday!
Austin had an amazing time. He enjoyed the water slide so much, everyone did, including me! It was the perfect end to the week. Also the perfect 6th Birthday ever! At least that’s what Austin said last night. I’m so happy the weather decided to give us a break from the wet weekend we were expected to have.
All in all I’m so blessed to be able to spend another year with my baby. I’m so happy to be his mom. Austin is my little entertainer. His new obsession is music, he loves to listen to music and perform. I think it’s that Leo spirit. Mister center of attention, mister hardworking, love being outside, love being into something Austin. My smartypants, & oftentimes slick smart by the mouth little man mommy loves you!
For me I guess you can say what better way to spend parent’s day then with my boys and family making memories, & having fun! Well, 6th Birthday in the books talkers.
Let me know if you’re celebrating a quarantine birthday? My birthday is officially 2 weeks away. While I don’t think my birthday will be as adventurous as Austin’s I do have a little something planned…..
until next time….
